Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) takes the safety of its students, staff, and community seriously. In light of a threat that was communicated to the school and as a precautionary measure for safety, NCPS initiated a soft lockdown for Nash Central High School. Law enforcement has been informed and is currently investigating the situation.
All after school activities will resume as usual.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work diligently to maintain a safe environment for everyone at NCPS. Thank you to the RMPD for keeping our schools safe.
For immediate concerns, questions, or if you have any information please contact Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411.
Definition of a Soft Lockdown: A soft lockdown is a proactive response to a potential threat when the credibility of the situation has yet to be determined. Law enforcement is conducting an ongoing investigation, and the safety of our school remains paramount. There will be an increased law enforcement presence both within and around the school to ensure the safety and security of our campus. We remain committed to providing updates as the situation progresses.
Thank you,
NCPS

🌟NCPS educators recently participated in the district's March Madness Professional Development Mini-Conference. Educators attended mini-sessions on topics ranging from AI to Resiliency to Data-Driven Instruction and more to build skills for their classrooms and other learning environments. The conference was a blend of in-person and virtual sessions facilitated by NCPS's own educators and DPI educators. The district's Director of Professional Learning and Special Programs, Yolanda Wiggins, organized the event.
Big thanks to all the facilitators and educators who attended, Rocky Mount High School for hosting the in-person sessions, and all our vendors (Ann's Donuts, Golden Corral, Krispy Kreme, Pepsi, Pizza Inn and more) who made donations so educators could munch while learning.
Check out some of the pics from the March 14th event. 🏀📷
