Nash County Public Schools teaches students social-emotional skills such as how to make responsible decisions, establish and maintain supportive relationships, manage emotions, and achieve personal and collective goals. Teachers frequently teach these skills as part of their daily lessons when they assist students with collaborating on a project, have students reflect on their strengths and needs, guide students with problem solving, or assist a student who has test anxiety by providing strategies to cope. Schools also provide curriculum on these skills using programs such as Second Steps, Zones of Regulation, and Be CALM. Asynchronous: PreK- Grade 2 - No live instruction, however, office hours will be available. Synchronous: Grade 3 - Grade 13 - Live instruction via Google Meet. For all students, remote learning assignments may be accessed through: Canvas, Google Classroom, or other communication from your child’s teachers or principal. Student attendance is required; however, NCPS has procedures in place to ensure students are not negatively affected if they are unable to complete tasks due to a lack of technology, power, or other challenges.
