Did you know that the Southern Nash High FFA chapter is one of the largest FFA programs in the state of North Carolina? The organization is a student-led organization with 8 student leaders who play a vital role in the development and execution of the program of activities. The program of activities are events held by the chapter that should fit into one of three of the categories used to evaluate a successful program; growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Some of the events the students participate in are career development events ranging from livestock judging to parliamentary procedure, leadership conferences (local and national), serving as delegates for our state delegation, serving as regional FFA officers, earning state degrees, travel to colleges in the state and learn about the opportunities after high school. Southern Nash FFA has a long history of success and producing leaders in the agriculture industry and North Carolina community. #GettoKnowNCPS #NCPS #CTE #CareerandTechnicalEducation #NashCountyPublicSchools #FFA #FutureFarmers

📣 Interactive Journalism Experience at Edwards Elementary & Rocky Mount Middle! Last week, Nash County Public Schools welcomed WRAL Eastern Reporter Heidi Kirk for an exciting and interactive day of learning at Edwards Elementary and Rocky Mount Middle School. At Edwards Elementary, the entire 5th grade explored the world of journalism, hearing about Heidi’s career path and the power of storytelling to inspire and connect communities. At Rocky Mount Middle, the experience went even deeper! The yearbook class joined the session to learn how to report a story, and Heidi will return after the Holidays to guide them in writing short stories and honing their interviewing techniques. The morning broadcast team—65 students strong with a core leadership team of 5—also attended to gain insight into news reporting. These students will now take what they’ve learned to teach other groups weekly as they build a stronger understanding of the news-making process. Students had the opportunity to explore camera equipment, microphones, and the teamwork it takes to create a news story. Heidi emphasized the importance of storytelling that highlights the good news in our community. Thank you, Heidi, for inspiring our students and empowering them to become the storytellers of tomorrow! 📰🎤 #NCPSProud #InspiringYoungMinds #FutureStorytellers #GoodNewsMatters #InteractiveLearning #NCPSchools
