Nash County Public Schools teaches students social-emotional skills such as how to make responsible decisions, establish and maintain supportive relationships, manage emotions, and achieve personal and collective goals. Teachers frequently teach these skills as part of their daily lessons when they assist students with collaborating on a project, have students reflect on their strengths and needs, guide students with problem solving, or assist a student who has test anxiety by providing strategies to cope. Schools also provide curriculum on these skills using programs such as Second Steps, Zones of Regulation, and Be CALM.
