📢 Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) Department of Communications and Spectrum News Teamed up and visited Middlesex Elementary with the NCPS Child Nutrition Team to showcase North Carolina's Farm to School program. 🌾🍎 Students now enjoy fresh, local produce in their school lunches, making eating healthily easier. Carolyn Pennington, school nutrition director, highlights the appeal of fresh strawberries and veggies. This program follows USDA standards to ensure quality. Last night at the June Board of Education meeting, we had several recognitions! 🎉 Cynthia Pritchard, a Nash County Public Schools social worker, was recognized. She has lived in Nash County all her life and attended Nash County Schools. She has been an employee since 1983 and has dedicated 41 years to our district. She has worked for at least 55 principals and 10 superintendents. She has been the President of the North Carolina School Social Workers Association. She was instrumental in establishing the Suicide protocols in our district. She is a Traumatic Event Debrief Team Leader and a TED team trainer. She was one of the first staff members to attend and participate in Safe Schools training at the state level. She is a wonderful and dedicated School Social Worker, and we will miss her experience, expertise, and knowledge. 🏆 The next recognition is for Robin Griffin, Wendy Hinson, and Jeff White. Nash County Public Schools was asked by the College Board to participate in AP Day at Capitol Day on May 1. Representatives from the district were invited by the North Carolina Advanced Placement Partnership (NCAPP) to share our story in advancing Advanced Placement (AP) education. These three represented the district at the event, where they had the opportunity to engage with lawmakers, express gratitude for the state’s ongoing support of the AP initiatives, and explain how they utilize all the resources provided by NCAPP. Our district remains committed to collaborating with state legislators and stakeholders to further enhance its AP programs and prepare students for success in college and beyond. 📚🏛️ The last person recognized, though certainly not least, was JR Williams, NCPS Wide Area Network Engineer. JR was nominated for the NCPS HERO award because of his unwavering dedication to all the staff of the Nash County Public Schools. JR is a true asset to NCPS. He consistently goes above and beyond, often being the first to arrive at the central office before 7:00 am. His expertise and willingness to help have been invaluable. JR is the “motherboard” of NCPS. He vigilantly monitors thousands of devices and accounts to shield us from cyber criminals and ensure seamless connectivity. His daily surveillance protects over 20,000 devices. 🖥️🛡️ Thank you to all for your dedication and service! 👏🎉
