This event is still happening tonight! See you there!
Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) takes the safety of its students, staff, and community seriously. In light of a social media threat and as a precautionary measure for safety, we are initiating a soft lockdown for all NCPS. Law enforcement has been informed and is currently investigating the situation.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work diligently to maintain a safe environment for everyone at NCPS. Thank you to law enforcement for keeping our schools safe. Please checkout this page for more updates, https://www.ncpschools.net/page/emergency-landing-page .
The Rocky Mount Police Department (RMPD) and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) are actively investigating this incident.
For immediate concerns, questions, or if you have any information please contact Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411 or Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 252-459-4120.
Definition of a Soft Lockdown: A soft lockdown is a proactive response to a potential threat when the credibility of the situation has yet to be determined. Law enforcement is conducting an ongoing investigation, and the safety of our school remains paramount. There will be an increased law enforcement presence both within and around the school to ensure the safety and security of our campus. We remain committed to providing updates as the situation progresses.
Be there as students from Enloe and Rocky Mount compete in the opening round of the Brain Game Playoffs.
There is no cost, or ticket needed to attend a Brain Game taping.
The Brain Game Auditorium inside building E seats 300 people, each school has been designated 100 seats, with room for overflow. The audience will appear on television, and we would love to have it full of school spirit: Students, teachers, mascots, cheerleaders, marching bands, friends, and family.
The last call for audience seating this Saturday is 11:45 am. Free snacks and drinks will be available in the “Green Room” reception area to audience members arriving earlier.
Once the game gets underway it typically takes 30-40 minutes. There will be a period to take pictures of the competitors on set after the conclusion of the contest. We estimate the taping session to be wrapped up at 12:30 pm
This contest is set to air on WRAL at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 9th.
Friendly Reminder about Tonight's Community Meeting
Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) is inviting parents, guardians, and community members to participate in a series of community forums to discuss the upcoming consolidation of several schools within the district. These changes are scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2024. Tonight's forum, aimed at middle school families, will discuss the future of Edwards Middle and Rocky Mount Middle. It will take place at the Edwards Middle School - Gym on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The format will include presentations from district leaders and an opportunity for attendees to engage in a Q&A session.
Key changes include:
• Williford Elementary will transition to a preschool-only facility and house the Teacher Resource Center for NCPS.
• Edwards Middle School will be transformed into Edwards Elementary, serving a new student population.
• Rocky Mount Middle School will welcome students from Edwards Middle and accommodate students affected by realignment.
• Winstead Avenue and Englewood Elementary Schools will be reconfigured as K-5 schools.
The forums will also discuss changes like the Spanish Immersion Program and the establishment of Opportunity Culture schools. All elementary and middle school families are encouraged to attend these informative sessions. NCPS remains committed to transparent communication and collaboration with the community during this transition period as we grow forward together.
