On September 12, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m., the Rocky Mount Police Department (RMPD) received a tip about a potential threat of violence against a Nash County Public School (NCPS).
RMPD Criminal Investigation Division immediately began following the tip and were able to identify a 12-year-old juvenile as the suspect.
The juvenile has been charged with communicating threats of mass violence on educational property.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we know it is yours as well. We remind families that any student involved in making threats will face disciplinary action in accordance with the NCPS Code of Conduct, as well as legal consequences. We encourage all students to report concerns to a teacher, a trusted adult, or through the Anonymous Say Something App.
