Good morning, Rocky Mount High School Guardians:
We want to keep you informed of an alleged tip that was reported this morning to a school administrator at Rocky Mount High School. The tip was immediately turned over to law enforcement for investigation. A soft lockdown was put in place as a precaution and lifted. The Rocky Mount Police Department determined that the threat was not credible.
To ensure the continued safety of our school community, additional law enforcement will be present at Rocky Mount High School.
We appreciate our school community for remaining vigilant and reporting concerns. Please encourage your child to report any troubling activity through the Anonymous Say Something App or a trusted adult.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Any students found involved in this situation will face disciplinary action according to the NCPS Code of Conduct.
Definition of a Soft Lockdown: A soft lockdown is a proactive response to a potential threat when the credibility of the situation has yet to be determined. Law enforcement is conducting an ongoing investigation, and the safety of our school remains paramount. There will be an increased law enforcement presence both within and around the school to ensure the safety and security of our campus. We remain committed to providing updates as the situation progresses.
