Architectural Designer Selection
Nash County Public Schools New Southern Nash Middle School
It is the owner’s intention to select a Design Consultant for the design of a new middle school in Bailey, North Carolina. The new school will be built on a new site to be acquired by Nash County.
The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is designed to comply with all applicable rules and regulations of new school facilities as described by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction School Planning Section as well as any applicable federal, state, and local requirement(s) associated with the construction of new school facilities. Design firms wishing to be considered for this project are requested to submit a Statement of Qualifications per the instructions on this Nash County Public Schools website.
In order to expedite the design process, the School System is considering the use of a prototype design for the new middle school that has been previously constructed. In addition to the below, please submit a prototype design that can be used for a middle school serving 1,100 students, on an approximately 33.70-acre site.
The School System is also interested in utilizing a pre-engineered structural system with a metal roof and utilizing a PEMBS for the structural and roofing system, similar to the roof on Red Oak Elementary School, located at 5603 Red Oak Rd, Red Oak, NC 27868.
The following criteria will be used to select firms for the projects:
Expertise and past performance in K-12 projects (25%)
Staffing and proposed design team for the project (25%)
Sustainability in school design (25%)
Proximity to, and familiarity with, the area where the project will be located (15%)
Miscellaneous (10%)
Qualifications will be received until 4:00 p.m. on March 10, 2025, in the Superintendent’s Office located at 930 Eastern Avenue, Nashville, NC 27856. The responses to this RFQ should be delivered to the attention of Angela Miller. Please provide FOUR (4) paper copies of your response to the RFQ.
