Good Evening Cardinal Parents, Thank you to everyone who helped us with our United Way fundraiser last week and also for all those who came to pick up the Candyman orders. This Tuesday we will hold the Main Event for those students who qualified for it through the Candyman fundraiser. Wednesday we will celebrate Unity Day by wearing orange for bully awareness and prevention. Thursday is an early release day with dismissal at 1:00PM. Please be sure to make arrangements for timely pick up on Thursday. Friday is a make up school day for students and will be a regular school day as it was previously a teacher workday on the calendar. Remember the grading period ends October 23rd for the first nine weeks. Lastly, please remember to put your child's name on the tag of any sweatshirts or jackets they may take off during the day. We have accumulated many of these over the past two weeks. If there is a name on the tag we can get it those things returned. Thank you for all your support, we look forward to a great week at school. Good night

Good Evening Cardinal Parents, This week Tuesday the 10th is Candyman pick up. We will have all the orders in the gym ready to pass out from 2:30-6:00. Please be sure to come by during those hours to pick up your order. If anyone would like to help our staff and PTA pass the orders out then please contact the front office to let them know. This week is the annual United Way Fundraising Campaign for Nash County. We have two opportunities for students and families to help us raise funds. On Friday we will have hat day and ask that students bring in a dollar to donate and they can wear their favorite hat. Also throughout the week we will have a Change for Change drive with each classroom collecting change during the week. We will have prizes for the classroom and grade level winners. Thank you in advance for any support your family is able to give to help our local United Way. Lastly, we have a little over two weeks left in the first grading period so please keep track of your child's progress as they work to meet the NCPS promotion standards. Each grading period counts and we want all our students working their hardest to show us how much they are learning. Thank you for all your support. Good Night.

Good Evening Cardinal Parents, We are ready to kick off the month of October and have a great first week of the new month. Please continue to have your child arrive at school before 8am so they can be in class by the 8:00 tardy bell. If you bring your child to school and plan for them to eat breakfast then they need to be at school before 7:55. Bus students who arrive at school after 8 are able to get breakfast and are not marked tardy. Mrs. Denton and Mrs. Gill continue to work to get our students on buses and to have them running on schedule. We have just a few more weeks in this grading period so please pay close attention to your child's progress and help them study at home to best prepare them for meeting their grade level expectations in the core content areas. Please join us on October 17th at NCHS from 5-7pm for the CTE Business and Industry Roundup. There will be all sorts of fun activities for students and families to learn about careers in the workforce. There will also be lots of food trucks out so your family can get dinner while you have a hands on experience with many careers. Thank you for your continued support of the students and staff at NES. Good night.

Good Evening Cardinal Parents, We are ready to start week three of the school year. Thank you for all your support thus far. We have had many parents sign up for rooms and parent portal but still need more to get connected. We will post a video to help anyone who may be having trouble with this process and you can also call the front office to get assistance. This Tuesday our 3rd grade students will take the NC BOG, Beginning of Grade Reading Test. We want to have perfect attendance for this test if at all possible so please be sure your third grader gets a good night's rest and is at school on time Tuesday morning. Last week we sent home the Candyman Fundraiser for our PTA. Please check it out and help our PTA raise funds to support our students and staff this year. Fall pictures will be Thursday September 21st. Remember if you are not dropping off in the back car line in the morning then you need to park on E. Virginia St and walk your child to the building they are going in. We cannot have parents drop off students on E. Virginia St or walk up with students in our back parking lot which is designated for our students with special needs. Thank you for your attention to this as we work to make our arrival and dismissal a safe and efficient process each day. Lastly, remember NES has free breakfast and lunch for all students this year. Please do not send your child into school in the morning with restaurant or fast food. If you have that for them please let them eat if prior to getting to school. Thank you all for everything you do to help us make NES a great place to learn for our students! Good night.

Good Evening Cardinal Parents, I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and are ready to start week two of the school year. Starting tomorrow parents will not be allowed to walk students to the classrooms. If you park on E. Virginia St. you can walk them to the building door and students will head to their classrooms from there. As a reminder we begin taking in car riders at 7:20 and 8:00 is the tardy bell. Please sign up for parent portal through the school and download the NCPS app so we can get all our parents connected to Rooms which has taken the place of class dojo this year. We have many teachers who are waiting for parents to get connected. Please contact the front office if you are having issues. Mrs. Denton and Mrs. Gill are working to get all students on bus routes as soon as possible. They will continue to be in contact with those of you waiting for a bus and we thank you for your patience as the transportation department works through the routing process. We will be kicking off the Candyman fundraiser soon so be on the lookout for that. We have had a great start to the year and thank you all for your efforts and patience as we continue to work through these first few weeks of school. Looking forward to seeing all our Cardinals tomorrow morning. Good night.

Good Evening Cardinal Parents, We are excited for the first day of school tomorrow. A few reminders to help our first day run smoothly. We will begin taking in car riders in the morning at 7:20. Students arriving between 7:20-7:40 will report to the cafeteria. From 7:40-8:00 students will report to their homeroom classes. All students at NES are eligible for free breakfast and lunch this year so keep that in mind as you plan for your family. As you know the district is short bus drivers so Mrs. Denton and Mrs Gill our Principal Intern will be working diligently to be sure all students who need a bus get one as soon as possible. They will communicate with you regarding busing issues through the nash county public school app and the Rooms program. Rooms has taken the place of dojo this year so if you have not downloaded the NCPS app and got connected with your child's teacher in Rooms please do so as soon as possible. Our afternoon car rider lines will be long for the first few weeks as we get our students and parents into the routine in the afternoon. We will begin loading cars around 3:05 and ask that you expect the line to be long and know that once the process is streamlined we will get through it in less than 30 minutes. Please also be aware of and courteous to those families who live in our neighborhood by not blocking their driveways and moving for them if they need to get out of their driveway. We look forward to a great first day of what will be a wonderful school year for the students at NES. See you in the morning!

Dear Parents and Guardians, This letter is Part 2 of the initial bus email sent on 8/24/2023 regarding our school bus services. This information is intended for those who have submitted the transportation form for the 2023-2024 school year. As previously mentioned, the buses will continue to service all routes, albeit with some delays in reaching the schools. Update on Bus Information: Starting today, Friday, August 25, 2023 - you can login to the link below to find your child's bus information, Some of you may see only "a.m./morning" but it will be the same bus in the "p.m./afternoon." Via this Link: https://ncps.mybusplanner.com/default.aspx You should be able to login with the same email/password you use for the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you have immediate concerns, questions, or trouble accessing your Parent Portal, please contact your child's school today. Next Steps: Please ensure your information is updated in the Parent Portal and that you've downloaded the Nash County Public Schools App and selected your child's school. Our Commitment: We want to reiterate our commitment to transparency and open communication with our NCPS families. While we understand that the schools typically communicate this information, we recognize the situation's urgency. Rest assured that we are working tirelessly to resolve these transportation issues for the safety and well-being of our students. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate these transportation challenges together. Your child's safety remains our top priority. Sincerely, NCPS
