Good afternoon, Cougar families! This is your weekly update from Middlesex Elementary School. Friday, February 2nd, the PTO will have a Valentine's Sale. PTO members will go to each classroom in the morning to sell items. Please see Flyer in the newsletter for more information. If you would like your child to purchase items, please ensure they have money on Friday. This is a one-day-only sale. In addition, Friday, February 2nd, is National Wear Red Day to honor Heart Health Month. Please see Mr. Pearce's message about Heart Health Month. Wednesday, February 7th, is the 100th day of school. We encourage all students and staff to dress as if they were 100 years old. Also, many teachers will have special activities planned for this day. It's going to be a great day! February 9th and 12th are teacher workdays. The school will be closed for students. It's going to be another great week at MES! Have a great evening!

Congratulations to Middlesex Elementary Spelling Bee winners, Joshua and Sophie! Joshua won first place and Sophie won second place. They both will represent MES at the district Spelling Bee. All the class winners did a great job! It was a wonderful event!

Due to recent weather forecasts and prioritizing the safety of our students, families, and staff, Nash County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17. This decision follows the latest update from the National Weather Service in Raleigh. The forecast indicates the possibility of isolated, patchy ice on pavements tonight and tomorrow morning. Furthermore, they anticipate sub-freezing temperatures in the morning, potentially dropping as low as 23 degrees, with a wind chill factor of 12 to 15 degrees.
