Hello Wahoos,
This family-friendly event slipped by us. However, this Thursday is Freddy's Night for WAVE. If you mention Winstead or show the flyer (it will come home this week), WAVE will get 15%. Please plan to come out and have a delicious meal with some of the WAVE family. We hope to see you there!
Good Morning, Here is your weekly video. If your child scored low on Letter Sounds (NWF-CLS) on their mClass assessment, here is an idea that you can complete with your child at home to help.

Good evening, Wahoos,
Report cards will go home on March 25; please review your child's folder nightly. If you plan to order a Yearbook, it is due by March 29, 2024; orders are accepted online only. Our Spring Break is coming up March 29-April 5. We hope you have a wonderful time with your family and friends. We are excited to have our Spring Carnival on April 19, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. Flyers went home last week to pre-order wristbands. We will have food trucks, games, music, and more. We hope to see all of our families. Lastly, parents, please refrain from using the bus line to drop your child off in the morning; this causes our bus drivers to pick up their middle school students late, resulting in students missing instructional time. Likewise, please walk your child across the crossway rather than allowing them to walk independently. This act is a tremendous safety issue as our students are too short to be seen over the hood of a bus. The staff would be devastated to have a student injured due to an adult action. I understand that we all run late at times and have other places we need to be; however, if this continues, we will only allow parents to use the carline in the morning for drop-off. I hope we do not have to take these measures. However, our ultimate priority is the safety of our students. I hope you have a wonderful evening; thank you for your partnership in your child's education.
Good evening,
This is a reminder about our Devoted Dad's lunch. Dad's and father figures are invited to have lunch with their child. We can't wait to see the excitement in their eyes and smiles on their faces. We look forward to seeing everyone. Have a great evening.
Good evening,
Join us for the Winstead Carnival on April 19 from 5:00 to 7:30. Enjoy food trucks, games, and more! Check your child's folder for the flyer and pre-order wristbands at a discounted price. See you there!
Good Morning, Here is your weekly video. If your child scored low on Phonemic Awareness (PSF) on their mClass assessment, here is an idea that you can complete with your child at home to help.

Good evening, Wahoos,
Thank you all for making our Book Fair a huge success. The students were excited to have the opportunity to "shop." Many thanks to our wonderful PTO for planning a fantastic event for our Mother Figures. Our students and parents had a marvelous time. Calling all Dads and Father Figures, on March 13, we invite you to come out and have lunch with your child. Teachers will send lunch times out through the NCPS app. Lastly, there is no school for students on March 14 and 15; these are teacher workdays. We thank you for your continued support in your child's education, and I hope you have a great evening.
Unity Fri-Yay! Come together as a community of unity and wear green as a symbol to prevent Gun Violence and share your photos in the comments!
Gun violence is preventable when you know the signs. “Say Something” upstanders have helped Sandy Hook Promise prevent 7 school shootings and 60+ acts of violence with a weapon.
We have had a great week at the Book Fair!! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our school by shopping! Just a reminder that tomorrow (Friday) is the last day of the Book Fair! We will open at 7:30 tomorrow morning if you want to come in and shop with your kiddos when you drop them off. The Book Fair will close at 12:00 tomorrow. Don't miss your last chance to shop!! Thanks again for supporting our wonderful school! :)
In 4 out of 5 school shootings, at least one other person had knowledge of the attacker’s plan but failed to report it. People who hurt themselves or others often show warning signs before they carry out an act of violence.

I promise to be an #Upstander and ”Say Something” when I see someone at-risk of hurting themselves or others.

Parents Did You Know… Your Child can ride the wave of success with healthy breakfast options at school?
Established in 1989, National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) celebrates how school breakfasts can set students up for daily success. By observing this special week every year, we’re encouraging all K-12 schools to recognize the importance of a healthy start to the day with breakfast to fuel children’s academic success.

Good Evening Wahoos,
This week at WAVE, we have a lot of fun and exciting events. This week is Read Across America week; we will have dress-up days. If you want your child to participate, please check out the dress-up days on our Facebook and school websites. The book fair begins this week, and I have had the pleasure of taking a sneak peek; I've seen a lot of fun and exciting books. We want all our students to have the opportunity to purchase something. Parents can send cash, set up an eWallet account, or shop online. We will have a statewide tornado drill this Wednesday; please talk with your child regarding appropriate behaviors during practice drills.
Lastly, this Friday, March 8, we will have our Mother Figure Dance from 6 to 8. We invite all Mothers, Grandmas, Aunts, cousins, and friends for this exciting event. We had a phenomenal turnout for our Father Figure dance, and I can't wait to see our mothers and students. This event is only for WAVE students; young or older siblings can not attend. Thanks in advance for your understanding. As always, thanks for your partnership in your child's education. Have a great evening.
