Students can typically earn college credit and/or placement into honors or advanced courses when they score a 3 or higher on an AP Exam.

Let's keep attendance and academics our top priority! There will not be a summer school opportunity this year for middle school students. In athletics:basketball has games Monday at home vs Edwards, Tuesday at Springfield, and Thursday at home vs Southern. Wrestling has a meet at Edwards Monday and at Southern Thursday.

Nash County Public Schools will start on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, to ensure the safety of the road conditions.
Due to recent weather forecasts and prioritizing the safety of our students, families, and staff, Nash County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17. This decision follows the latest update from the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
The forecast indicates the possibility of isolated, patchy ice on pavements tonight and tomorrow morning. Furthermore, they anticipate sub-freezing temperatures in the morning, potentially dropping as low as 23 degrees, with a wind chill factor of 12 to 15 degrees.
Revised Schedule for January 17, 2024:
- Traditional High School: 9:30 a.m.
- Elementary School: 10:00 a.m.
- Middle School: 10:30 a.m.
- Tar River Academy and CITI High School: 11:00 a.m.
- Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School: 11:30 a.m.
Breakfast will be available at schools. Students may be dropped off 40 minutes prior to the start of their school. If you ride the bus - please be on the lookout for transportation updates in the morning.

Good evening Red Oak Family! Here are a few important announcements:
Please pay all outstanding lunch fees as soon as possible.
All families must "opt-in" using the following link to the new model release form. This will allow your student to be in the yearbook, have their accomplishments be posted to social media/newspaper, etc. Please complete this using the attached link link as soon as possible.
All students will take the second North Carolina Reading Check-in tomorrow. All 8th graders will take the North Carolina Science Check-in on Wednesday.
8th grade students will receive a letter Tuesday regarding Advanced Placement courses at the High School. There will also be and information session on February 1st and the Nash County Public Schools Central Office auditorium.
In athletics:
Basketball has away games this week at Nash Central Tuesday and at Phillips Thursday.
Wrestling has a home match vs. Nash Central Tuesday.
Please make your attendance and grades a priority for the second semester. The promotion/retention standards are very clear and there will be letters coming home soon for students at-risk of failing for the year. There is still time to turn things around, but make no mistake, the promotion/retention standards will be followed and the results are up to the students. Make the decision and peak to your child today about their performance. Also, if you need access to the parent portal, please call the school.
