Due to the forecast of below-freezing conditions and the potential for today’s precipitation to freeze on roadways, Nash County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for staff and students on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Essential personnel should report at their regular time, provided it is safe to do so.
Breakfast will be available at schools. Students may be dropped off 40 minutes prior to the start of their school day.
Thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe in this weather. For any inquiries, contact your respective school. All after-school activities and athletic programs will proceed as usual.

Reminder: Today is an early release day, and students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. Please note that early check-out will close at 12:30 p.m. For your convenience, we recommend parking in the staff lot to avoid being blocked in at the front. Thank you for your cooperation.

Congratulations to our top two overall winners: Jayden Cooper, a 3rd grader from Ms. Sanchez's class, and Olivia Casebolt, a 5th grader from Ms. Casas's class. These talented WAVE students will proudly represent our school at the District Spelling Bee in February. We couldn’t be prouder of all our excellent spellers!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our school-wide Spelling Bee! The students were exceptionally well-prepared and represented their 3rd-5th grade homerooms with pride and excellence.

Good evening, parents and guardians. This is Mrs.Kelley, the Assistant Principal of Winstead Elementary, with this week's WAVE message.
Parents, we have so many coats and jackets that we have been trying to get the students to pick up. Please come to the school between 7:20 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to check in lost and found for their coats or jackets.
The Winter Concert was so good! Thank you to all who attended. The 4th and 5th-grade students did an excellent job.
Parents, if you pick your child up early from school, between 12:30 and 2:30, you must park in the staff parking lot near the buses. The pick-up line starts around 12:30.
Parents' school dismisses at 3:00, but several students are still here from 3:45 to 4:00 and later. Please arrive close to 3:00 to pick your children up. Students are tired, and sometimes, my staff has meetings they must attend after school.
Starting Monday, December 9th, students must have a tardy pass to get into class. Please do not send your child to the building after 8:00 by themselves. A parent or guardian will need to come inside to sign them in. Breakfast will end at 8:05 for any student coming in tardy unless they are a bus rider. Students miss valuable lessons because they have a late start to the day. If you want your child to eat breakfast, please have them here between 7:20 am and 8:00 am.
If you need to change your child's mode of transportation, please send a note in their folder or notify their teacher through the Rooms app. Calls to the front office during busy check-out times can be challenging. If calling the office, any transportation changes must be made by 1:00 PM.
December 11th is an early release day, and school will dismiss at 1:00.
During the week of December 16th to the 20th, we will have our Holiday Spirit week. Here are the dress-up days:

Tuesday 17: Tree Toppers: Wear holiday headwear
