Weekly Reminders 4th & 5th

This week is a very short week at the Nest! However, I want to send out a message especially to our 4th and 5th grade parents.

Recently, we have had a special interest from several of our students in creating a type of planned fighting in the restrooms, a fight club, if you will. Of course, this is against NCPS Policy and SHES expectations. Action was taken to address all the students involved. Consequences were administered. However, I want everyone to be aware that recording or videoing such events are strictly prohibited by NCPS and SHES expectations. Observing or being a “spectator” is also strictly against SHES expectations as well. I have met with 4th and 5th grades and explained the expectations and policies about these events so to provide a warning to all who may wish to get involved in this behavior.

Please understand that from this point on, this type activity will carry a strict consequence. NCPS provides a consequence matrix as a guide to administration for behaviors that are against behavior codes and policy violations. However, Administration does have privilege of assigning higher consequences based on the severity of the behavior. Since a warning has been provided, I will be assigning a minimum of 3-5 days for 1st offense fighting, videoing, and distributing videos to others/social media. Being a willing spectator to any fighting will be assigned 2-3 days ISS.

The message I am sending with this action is “we do not do this type of activity at SHES!” It is my hope that you, as parents, will support me by reinforcing this with your student. It is not my desire to be sending students home when they need their instruction with academics, but I will not keep students here while others are having their instruction interrupted by these unnecessary acts. So, thanks for any support you can give by having a serious talk with your student.

On a more positive note.

Monday and Tuesday of this week will be regular schedule. Please remember that the tardy bell rings at 8:00 and Parents must park and come to the office to sign their child in after the tardy bell.

The breakfast line closes at 8:15 each morning.

Dismissal is at 3:00 each day.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, school is closed for everyone to enjoy the Thanksgiving Break. We will see you all again on Monday December 2nd.

From all of us at Spring Hope Elementary, please have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for listening, and it is a pleasure to serve as your Principal!
