Student Parking
Parking Policy
Rules/ Regulations:
Parking is a privilege and will be permitted as long as rules and regulations are followed.
The maximum speed limit on campus is 10mph. All traffic laws apply on campus.
Absolutely no parking is allowed in the RMHS bus parking area or the RMHS Faculty/Staff parking area before, during, or after school. Violators will be towed.
No irregular parking. Students should park parallel to one another in the space provided. Students are not permitted to park between the median, on the grass, or in areas designated by the principal and staff. Students who insist on parking illegally will have their parking hangers revoked.
Parking hang tags from previous years must be removed. The current parking hang tag must be displayed on the rearview mirror so it is visible to anyone standing at the front of the car. The student must ensure the tag is visible each time they park their vehicle in the student parking lot. Anytime the student drives a different vehicle to school, he or
she is responsible for transferring the parking hanger from one car to the other. In the event that your parking pass is lost, you will be required to purchase another one.
Parking hang tags cannot be shared or sold to another student. If a student withdraws from school or graduates mid-year, he/she is to return the parking hang tag.
Students who drive to school or ride to school in cars must leave the car immediately
upon arrival at school and must only re-enter the cars at the end of the school day
unless permitted to do so by a principal. Cars should be locked to prevent pilfering and vandalism. The School is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Students are not allowed in the parking lot between or during classes. If students officially check out of school during the school day, they are to immediately report to their vehicle and leave campus.
Failure to pay parking fines issued during the semester will result in the loss of parking privileges during the semester. Students who receive parking tickets should pay for their tickets as soon as possible. Students are expected to pay for any parking tickets received before receiving their next report card. Students who do not pay parking tickets by the end of the school year will forfeit their right to purchase a parking space in the following year. Seniors are expected to have all fines paid before participation in graduation exercises.
Students loitering in the student parking lot may be subject to disciplinary procedures. Loitering is defined as taking any more time than is necessary to park the vehicle, pick up books, lock the doors, and walk through the parking lot. A time limit is not set; it is the student’s responsibility to demonstrate a reasonable faith effort to leave the car and parking lot as quickly as possible.
After receiving one parking ticket, vehicles illegally parked in any parking lot may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Speeding (more than 10 MPH) or otherwise reckless driving in any manner will not be tolerated in the parking lot. Students will drive with caution at all times while on the School campus. Students known to be driving recklessly on campus will face revocation of driving privileges for a period of time determined by the administration.
Students who drive to school are not permitted to cut between buses in the afternoon. There will be parking attendants to assist students on the grounds. Failure to obey them may result in a loss of driving privileges including any disciplinary actions. School Administration may decide upon additional consequence(s).
Violation of these policies may result in the towing of a student’s vehicle, loss of parking privileges …and any school consequence(s) as decided upon by the school administration.
Nash County Public Schools operates a “smoke-free” campus. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on any campus. This includes parking lots, inside and outside cars, before, during, and after school—students who persist in checking into school late risk the loss of parking privileges.
Parking passes should be paid online by visiting the Nash County Public Schools website. Click on Kev Cash Online. You will be prompted to either register or sign in. First-time users must register before making payments. After purchasing a parking hang tag online, students should bring the following to the front office so that they can receive their parking hang tag:
